6 inch squares Hue Shift Afghan

I posted on FB a few days ago that I was starting something interesting.

Based in comments, I think people were slightly confused.

I mentioned that I was going to do something similar to the hue shift afghan.

I posted this photo as an example of what a hue shift afghan is. I made this afghan in 2014.

I could have also showed this as an example of a hue shift afghan, Shifts of Love, that I made as a wedding present in 2017.

My point was more that I was using the colors inspired by this photo…

And found in my garage (and a quick trip to Joann Fabrics)…

Then I would generate a chart like this… 8 colors both on the X and Y axis…

Then make each 6 inch square in the 2 colors that intersect.

With the colors from the inspiration photo…

16 of 64 squares done. 1/4 of the way complete. It works up quick.

Does this explanation help you to understand what I’m working on??

Walking Stats for 2023

How about my walking update for 2023?

These numbers are based on what the app tells me. Actual numbers could be slightly higher. 🙃😉

All Time Distance: 2718.16 miles
All Time Workouts: 1208 (since August 24, 2020 – which was 1225 days ago… pretty close to once a day!! Even though, it really is twice on some days and some days were skipped.)
All Time time: 930 hours, 3 minutes, 11 seconds!

Longest day walking: Boston Freedom Trail: 8.14 miles!!

Average Weekly Distance: 15.5 miles
Average Weekly Workouts: 6
Number of weeks walking 15+ miles: 164! That’s 3.14 years!

2023: 353 workouts, 796.2 miles (bummer!! I know there have been weeks that I barely reached 15, so I guess I’m not totally surprised.)
2022: 382 workouts, 824 miles
2021: 365 workouts, 862.2 miles
2020: 104 workouts, 229.6 miles (only 18 weeks)

All Time Average Pace: 20.46 minutes per mile
Average Pace by the year:

2023: 21.00 minutes per mile
2022: 21.32 minutes per mile
2021: 19.64 minutes per mile
2020: 19.9 minutes per mile

Fastest walk: 15:50 minutes per mile, February 12, 2021.

I do know that we walked faster with the wheelchair… we were also several years younger!!

I don’t mind the cold, too much. ❄️ It takes about a mile to be fully warm and at about 1.5-2 miles, I’m sweating. 😅
My goal for 2024…. just keep walking. Wonder how many podcasts I can get through this year? Sometimes I find myself struggling to force myself to walk… but I know once I do, I will feel better. It is easier when you have someone to chat with while you walk. Sadly, we are entering the season where I will be walking by myself almost all the time. 😞

If you live local and ever want to brave the trail and/or weather with me, please let me know. I would welcome the company!!
